Town of Bruderheim; History
Origin
According to the Alberta Department of Municipal Affairs, Bruderheim was
incorporated as a town on Sep. 17, 1980 and was established as a village on
May 29, 1908. (Source,
p. 99)
However, Bruderheim became settled some years before 1908, beginning in
about 1895, when the area was settled on account of a land grant to settlers
of German origin from Tsarist Russia, in the Ukrainian province of Volhynia.
See for example
Lamont County's Self-guided Church Tours, p. 2 (4 of 52).
According to that, the Bruderheim Moravian Church organized its first
congregation in 1895, and two years later, in 1997, the Bethlehem Lutheran
Church was first organized.
