Bruderheim Welcome Sign

Ideas on what to do to attract more people that wish to live in Bruderheim

By Walter Schneider

Bruderheim Welcome Sign

Our official welcome sign is located at the SW-corner of Highway 45 and 48th Avenue.  The town council said that plans are in the making for moving that sign to the south-end of town on Highway 45.

In the meantime, the sign — wherever it may be located — and the flower bed and lawn surrounding it, need looking after.  It does not make a good impression on people to see as one of the first things when they come to town that Bruderheim hasn't quite got its heart in it when it welcomes visitors.

By the way, I don't know for how many years that sign has been there, but the paint that is on the sign is becoming quite faded.  The sign could use a paint job.   That would be better than to fund the painting of graffiti on the old curling rink.

Still, what a little weeding and cutting of grass won't do, right?  If we all make an effort to pitch in a bit, things will look better, and our taxes won't be quite so high.  However, the sidewalk going past the welcome sign is nothing to be proud of.  (The welcome sign is just to the left of the sidewalk that is barely visible in the photo at right.)

Speaking of welcome signs for the Town of Bruderheim, the website operated by the Town at http://bruderheim.ca is a welcome sign, too, and it is not a very good one.  You may wish to visit that website.  Even more importantly, you may wish to consider some of the numerous and embarrassing errors it contains.  Here is a discussion of those errors, with suggestions for what needs to be done to correct them.
